REVIEWS:
“A breath of frightening fresh air with a pantheistic sting in its tail.” ⭑⭑⭑⭑ Mark Kermode, The Observer
“Wheatley plunges us into his rusty tank of weirdness with gusto and Fry and Torchia handle this ordeal with impeccable seriousness.” ⭑⭑⭑⭑ Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
“In The Earth is an outstandingly original mind-blitzing masterpiece. It is a stunning psychedelic nightmare, and the most relevant horror of the year so far.” ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑ Daniel Goodwin, HeyUGuys
“In The Earth is filmmaking at its most gnarly and elemental yet smart.” ⭑⭑⭑⭑ Ian Freer, Empire Magazine
“Wheatley and his collaborators have produced something that some of us thought would be impossible: an outrageously entertaining film that feels utterly rooted in the bleak era in which it was made.” ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑ Robbie Collin, The Daily Telegraph
“The film feels like the love child of Kill List and A Field in England, but cleaves closer to straight horror, with a creeping sense of dread established from the opening scene.” Hannah Strong, Little White lies
“It's damn terrifying, trippy, thoughtfully imaginative in sound design and visual tricks to convey communicating with nature, and packs a savage kick of relatively insane individuals and body horror.” ⭑⭑⭑⭑ Robert Kojder, Flickering Myth
“It will be a pleasure to forget most aspects of the coronavirus era but In the Earth could easily become a late-night cult film that rewards repeat viewings.” ⭑⭑⭑⭑ Lou Thomas, NME
“Speaking of horrific set-pieces, these are the best of Wheatley's career. They're shot beautifully and ooze tension, backed by a score from Clint Mansell that drips with malice.” ⭑⭑⭑⭑ Matt Taylor, Starburst
“The cumulative effect of watching, or rather enduring, In the Earth is much like being pulled violently through a hedge backwards, such is the impact of its visceral assault on all of the senses.” ⭑⭑⭑⭑ Matthew Anderson, CineVue
