FILM REVIEWS:
“Teen Spirit will remind you of ‘A Star Is Born’ — except it’s even better” Michael O’Sullivan, The Washington Post
"Fanning’s performance is one of the most surprising things about “Teen Spirit,” a goodhearted and entertaining film about stardom in the “American Idol” era that also marks the directorial debut of Max Minghella." Steve Pond, The Wrap
"Teen Spirit," Max Minghella's sweet and touching directing debut, is both proudly clichéd and refreshingly different.” Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times
"Elle Fanning is a star reborn in Max Minghella's diretorial debut, a modern fairy tale that unfolds like a pop spectacle." David Ehrlich, Indie Wire
“Debuting director Max Minghella knows he's running on a formula wheel, but the luminous Elle Fanning-doing her own vocals (no Auto Tune)-is simply sensational as a young singer competing in an 'American Idol'-like TV competition.” Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
“Teen Spirit is a celebration of candid energy and the cookie-cutter charm of a very specific dream-making machine.” Ella Kemp, Little White Lies
“Simply put, Elle Fanning is Teen Spirit. This is a performance piece, nothing more and nothing less, and those invested in seeing Fanning soar in her career have every reason to watch. She's become the most formidable actress of her generation.” Michael Roffman, Consequences of Sound
“Teen Spirit tells an old tale, but Max Minghella's incredible directorial debut is a technicolor, neon-drenched fever dream” Bobby LePire, Film Threat
“Whenever Fanning takes the mic, a stream of surrealistic fancies pour onto the screen... even in shots of her just staring directly into the camera for a close-up that is both entranced and entrancing.” David Crow, Den of Geek
“Max Minghella's assured directorial debut lets Elle Fanning play an aspiring singer with soulful commitment.” Glenn Sumi, Now Toronto
